Nostalgia at its finest

Brothers Martin and Christian Pupp wanted to try something new, and one thing was clear: boring was not on the menu! Their new Design Hotel Pupp in the city centre of Brixen, South Tyrol, is thus the realisation of a long-cherished dream.

The two sons of the Pupp family, Martin and Christian, both studied the arts of confectionery. On 15 May 2002, they took over the business – in the possession of the Pupp family since 1918 – and, following complete restructuring, transformed the confectionery shop into a nostalgic Vienna-style Café.

Martin and Christian have applied the traditional family history to their newly built hotel. Every day they serve up sweet, spicy or extravagantly tasty delicacies from the family-owned Pupp café and confectionery shop. Erdbeere (Strawberry), Vanille (Vanilla), Mohn (Poppy), Kastanie (Chestnut), Kaffee (Coffee) – room names like this may seem strange to guests as they check in. But the concept is revealed at breakfast time at the very latest, with fresh pastries, tarts and cakes, not to mention preserves, all produced in-house. They form a link to the traditional Pupp confectionery shop on the other side of the road. These fruity and exotic names are the inspiration underlying the colours of the suites, as soon becomes clear, and represent one of the many loving details at the 11-room Hotel Pupp.

In 2019, our paths separated and Christian and his family took over the confectionery Pupp and Martin the hotel. Thus, the course for the children is already set and from one farm grew 2 farms that continue to run with success.

“For generations we have attached great importance to creating something special with our confectionery. And we wanted to offer something truly extraordinary with our hotel.”
