SKIING, CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING, SNOW-SHOE HIKING
The high-alpine mountains can be reached within half an hour from Brixen: Plose, the main mountain of Brixen with an altitude of 2,500 metres. Plose provides an ideal holiday destination for the whole family: skiers, snowboarders, cross-country skiers, snow-shoe hikers and winter hikers feel at ease in this low mountain range! The cosy traditional alpine huts are a meeting point of winter athletes.
Skiing pleasure
The broad slopes on the sunny areas of the Plose offer a truly magnificent skiing experience. The many descents in varying degrees of difficulty make skiing here a highlight for beginners and pros alike. The fantastic views of the Dolomites make skiing a special experience. The legendary Trametsch descent is an absolute must for any ski fan. Starting near the Plosehütte mountain hut at 2,446 m, this incredible descent runs over gorgeous slopes to the lower station of the Plose gondola lift at 1,067 m. Covering 1,400 of elevation and 9 km of pure descent, the Trametsch is a real thrill.
Tobogganing and Hiking
The Plose is not just for skiers. Bressanone’s local mountain offers a wide range of tobogganing opportunities to suit both beginners as well as experienced tobogganers. The 9-km “RudiRun” toboggan run is one of the longest in the Alps. The toboggan run offers fun for everyone and is an absolute must do for any visit to the Plose. But the Plose has even more to offer: for example, the toboggan hike to the Rossalm mountain hut, where you can enjoy the sublime mountain vista from above and take refreshment in a cosy hut.
Those who would rather not toboggan can use the many different winter hiking trails and enjoy a sunny winter day exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites by foot, either with snowshoes or winter hiking boots. There is a wide selection of hiking trails and guided snowshoe tours, sure to suit everyone’s taste.
Plose Nights
Enjoy a special winter evening with your family or friends high up in the South Tyrol mountains. The Plose Nights provide probably the most suitable framework for a special winter adventure: impressive ascent with the Plose Cable Car above the brightly lit valley basin of Bressanone and night. At the huts an unique cuisine awaits you, as every hut offers a very special delicacy. Enjoy the end of the evening with a sledge ride on the lit RudiRun toboggan track or in a comfortable gondola trip to the valley.
Plose Tobogganing Days
Don’t have much experience with tobogganing? We will be happy to show you how it’s done! A professional tobogganist is available to show you how to have guaranteed fun with a toboggan at the mountain station of the Plose gondola lift.
